Single Session Family Consultation - 2 Day Train the Trainer workshop

31 August and 01 September 2022 9.30am - 3.30pm

Supporting Parents Healthy Children (SPHC: Ministry of Health, 2015) outlines clear expectations for Mental Health and Addiction services in Aotearoa New Zealand. The guideline aims to ensure that children are supported when their parents/caregivers come into contact with services. The intention is that all services are provided in a whānau-inclusive way.

Whāraurau are pleased to again partner with the Bouverie Family Centre to offer a Train the Trainer (TtT) workshop for the Single Session Family Consultation (SSFC) Framework. The SSFC TtT two-day online Zoom workshop will be held on 31 August and 01 September 2022 (Wednesday and Thursday) and participants will learn to deliver the SSFC 1 day FtF training.

Brendan O’Hanlon from the Bouverie Centre in Melbourne will lead the training with support from Whāraurau. Numbers for the training are limited, and we are accepting registrations from people who are committed to providing the training. To this end, we ask that people come to the workshop with a date for their first training already in the diary! That’s a big challenge, and it ensures that people are committed to using their newly acquired skills to train other people.

With limited numbers, we will be aware of the spread of trainers, and ask that if there is more than one person from a service please contact Karin Isherwood to discuss.

Whāraurau is committed to supporting SSFC trainers and ongoing training  and will help with the establishment of supervision groups and other methods of assistance as people begin to deliver their trainings.

There are a few prerequisites to attending the SSFC TtT workshop.
We expect that you have:

  • attended an SSFC training in New Zealand, or attended a Bouverie SSFC training (you will be asked for the date of your training during registration),
  • the support of your manager/clinical leader to deliver SSFC training,
  • used the SSFC framework in your work and receive support/supervision,
  • capacity in your schedule to train other clinicians,
  • an understanding of the requirements outlined in the Supporting Parents Healthy Children Guidelines.

If you have not completed a SSFC training and would like to be a trainer, please contact Karin Isherwood or Bronwyn Dunnachie

Please note: For this training each person will need to be on a separate device with video capability.

Registration now is closed.
