About Te Whatu Ora Southern

Te Whatu Ora Southern exists to support everyone across our district to live well, and access the right care when they need it, by delivering high quality, patient-centred and equitable health services to our diverse communities.

We are responsible for planning, funding and providing health and disability services to a population of over 350,000 located South of the Waitaki River. Our catchment area encompasses Invercargill City, Queenstown - Lakes District, Gore, rural Southland, Clutha, Central Otago, Maniototo, Waitaki District and Dunedin City. This means Southern DHB serves the largest geographic region of all New Zealand's health boards.

About the team

The Youth Forensic team is a specialised, cohesive team working alongside the youth justice service. The team support rangatahi who are engaged in offending behaviours and are experiencing emotional and/or mental health concern. The team provides outreach across the district working collaboratively with providers.

About you

In this Dunedin based role, you'll manage your own caseload, and you'll be committed to delivering excellence to rangatahi and their whanau in an age appropriate and culturally appropriate manner, liaising effectively in partnership with community agencies to support rangatahi health and wellbeing. You will also provide reports under Section 333 when requested by Youth Court.

You'll have a sound knowledge of appropriate youth focused mental health interventions and provide specialised assessment and treatment, with a strong emphasis on family inclusion and family therapy for youth, experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties.

To be considered you must be registered with the NZ Psychologists Board with a Clinical Psychologist scope and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate. A current NZ driver's licence will also be required.
