Coming up at the University of Auckland:

Youth Addictions & Co-Existing Problems

Overview of the key principles to manage alcohol and drug problems in Child & Adolescent Mental Health contexts.

This University of Auckland course runs in Semester Two from 27 July - 23 Nov 2020, and covers a range of topics including; 

  • Screening
  • Assessment
  • Brief interventions
  • Harm Reduction
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • CBT in addiction treatment.

Most coursework is online; designed for student-clinicians across the country.
Only two days of face-to-face teachings (15 & 16 September 2020, University of Auckland, Grafton Campus) and self-organised visits to specialist treatment settings are required.

There is no dedicated funding for this course but students can enquire to their services or to any other sources they know of. StudyLink is also relevant.

This 15 point Semester course can also form part of the ICAMH Masters programme.
