Results of the 2020 Waiting Room Competition

Werry Workforce Whāraurau, the Ministry of Health and Te Pou are proud to announce the winners of the 2020 'whānau/family friendly' waiting room competition!

A panel of judges was assembled with representation from Werry Workforce Whāraurau, the Ministry of Health and Te Pou and entries were divided into three categories:

DHB Adult Services

Winner

• Greymouth Community Mental Health (Adult) Services
  "We note the huge transformation this service has made to their waiting room. All ages seem to be catered to. Loved the SPHC wall and noted the accessible toilet and changing table availability."

Second place

• Invercargill Community Mental Health (Adult) Services
  "We loved the cultural inclusiveness and some of the precious objects."

 

NGO / PHO / PHE

Winner

• Aroha ki te Tamariki (Mirror Counselling Services)
  The panel particularly liked the message jar and the excellent hot chocolates.
  "It seemed like a place you could really make yourself at home. We were pleased to hear about Samii the welcoming committee."

Second place (by a whisker)

• Anxiety NZ
  Some gorgeous ideas and the panel loved the creative cards. One of the panel commented that they could see themselves as really comfortable there.

Special mention

• Adventure Development
  "We thought the kākahu was outstanding. We would have liked to see more of your space."

DHB Child and Youth Services

Winner

• MICAMHAS – Whanganui DHB
  "We loved the link to nature (our Youth Consumer forums have told us how important this is), the feedback on the music, the help yourself drinks café, the young person's artworks and we also liked the option of the quieter seating space."

Second place

• BoP DHB Youth Service
  "Our YCAs loved that young people aren’t having to share a child oriented space. It is very flash and stylish and we coveted your beautiful panels. The Rainbow flag was lovely to see."
