Tupua Urlich is a dedicated advocate of Ngati Kahungunu and Croatian roots. Tupua is a loving father to two precious tamariki, Antonia and Hawaiki. His remarkable journey spans over a decade of lived experience within the state care and protection system. He has witnessed the generational impact on his whanau and is deeply committed to advocating for systemic change and the rights of young people. Despite notable progress and positive changes achieved, Tupua recognises that there is still much important work ahead. He values every collaborative opportunity that brings us closer to a more compassionate and effective care system.
Tupua's vision is for a care system that is not only humane but also attuned to the struggles faced by whānau in society, offering unwavering support to eliminate the need for state intervention wherever possible.
