Incredible Years Teacher | Group leader training
Overview
The Incredible Years® teacher classroom management programme aims to provide teachers with the skills to effectively manage their classroom and promote children’s social, emotional and academic competence.
Training information
In this workshop you will learn to deliver the Incredible Years teacher classroom management programme to educators of children aged four to eight years. The programme can be useful for teachers, teacher aides, psychologists, school counsellors, and any school personnel working with young children.
This is an intensive, practical training workshop over three days. 'Completion of training' certificates will be given to attendees who attend the full course. There is an expectation that those who attend this training continue to work towards accreditation in the programme. Information regarding accreditation is provided at the workshop.
Learning outcomes
- This training will help group leaders learn how to deliver the evidence-based Teacher Classroom Management Programme to preschool and early school-age teachers
- You will focus on how to strengthen teacher classroom management strategies, promote children’s pro-social behaviour and school readiness (reading and writing skills), and reduce classroom aggression and non-cooperation with peers and teachers
- The curriculum provides ways teachers can effectively collaborate with parents to support their school involvement and promote consistency from home to school
- After the training, group leaders can offer this 6-day curriculum to groups of teachers in their schools. It may be delivered in monthly or fortnightly meetings, and takes 42 hours for teachers to complete the entire series
Registration criteria
- You must attend all days in full: Monday - May 20th 2024 | Tuesday - May 21st 2024 | Wednesday - May 22nd 2024
- Manager’s support for attendance at the full three days’ training and subsequent consultation days and fidelity workshops. Managers must support their team member to deliver the IYT programme within 12 months of completing the course
- Agreement to ongoing communication with Whāraurau on your accreditation pathway plan, support opportunities and progression
- Ongoing co-delivery of the IY Teacher programme with another IY-trained practitioner
