Pūrākau and Motivational Interviewing with Tipene Pickett | Nelson

• Are you wanting to understand and strengthen your use of Pūrākau and Motivational Interviewing Techniques?
   

In this two day training course in Nelson on 27 and 28 June, Tipene Pickett will guide you through using Pūrākau (traditional Māori narratives of origin) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). 
 

You will work through the fundamentals of Motivational Interviewing: 
•    Spirit of MI: Partnership, acceptance, compassion and evocation 
•    The four MI processes: engage, focus, evoke and plan 
•    The use of reflective listening to shape a conversation to resolve ambivalence and strengthen commitment for change 
 

You will practice the storytelling of Pūrākau and engage in discussion to expand your understanding of how these narratives of origin can be applied to support change. 
 

Venue: This is an in-person event in Nelson. If your availability changes, let us know so we can offer your place to another delegate and also cater correctly.
