Who should attend?
This workshop covers in depth the Autism Spectrum and Language Delays Parent Programme for parents of children ages 2–5 years old. Group leaders attending this training should have prior experience working with children on the Autism spectrum or their families. It is recommended that group leaders attending this training have previously attended the Basic Parent Group Leader Training and have experience running Incredible Years® groups. This workshop will train group leaders to deliver the Autism Spectrum and Language Delays Programme in a parent group setting. This new programme can be used as a stand alone, following the 14-16 session protocol for a group of parents all of whom have children on the Autism Spectrum or with language delays. It can also be used by group leaders delivering the Toddler or Basic Preschool IY Programs as a supplement if there are parents in the group with children on the Autism Spectrum or with language delays.
This is an intensive, practical training workshop over five half-days. 'Completion of training' certificates will be given to attendees who attend the full course, and all sessions must be attended.
There is an expectation that those who attend this training continue to work towards accreditation in the programme. Information regarding accreditation is provided at the workshop.
Commitment required from practitioner
- Attend all five sessions – if you are unable to attend the five sessions, please do not register.
- Manager’s support for attendance at the full five session's training and subsequent consultation days and fidelity workshops.
- Agreement to ongoing communication with Whāraurau on your accreditation pathway plan, support opportunities and progression.
- Ongoing co-delivery of the IY Parent Autism Programme with another IY-trained practitioner from your organisation.
Group leader manuals and resources are not provided at this training. Additional books and programme materials such as leader manuals, DVDs, parent handouts, etc. can be purchased directly from the Incredible Years® USA website. Please contact your local PB4L coordinator for more information on obtaining programme materials.
