The Youth Consumer Advisors from Whāraurau invite rangatahi to attend our National Virtual DMC 2022.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a whirlwind for young people and their mental health. At Whāraurau, we want to understand these experiences to advocate for the needs and wants of young people with lived experience of mental distress or who have experience of accessing mental health services to better services and improve the mental health outcomes for young people in Aotearoa.

We are on a mission to achieve a New Zealand where mental health services can effectively engage with and support young people on their mental health journey. For us, this begins with listening to those young people which is why we are hosting the DMC. DMC stands from ‘deep, meaningful conversations’ which is exactly what we would like to achieve.

Acknowledging the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on young people’s mental health, our theme for this DMC is finding mental health support in the digital space as young people. From our conversations, we will explore the current challenges with accessing services, what is currently missing and where services can look to improve.

The DMC is open to young people who are passionate about mental health issues, and are comfortable chatting about their perspectives on mental health services and their lived experiences.

Whāraurau is providing an opportunity for young people to come together to amplify the youth lived experience perspective, talk about their experiences of mental distress and contribute to the conversation around mental health support in the digital space.

So bring your lived experience, enthusiasm and ideas along to the DMC from 11pm to 2pm on Friday 15th July via Zoom.
