Ruby is a Counsellor and Provisional member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC). She completed her master’s in counselling from the University of Canterbury. She also has a background in social work and early childhood education.

Ruby brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge and has over 5 years’ experience providing multi-cultural counselling working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Her passion lies in working with individuals who have come from a refugee or migrant background, specifically with the members of the Muslim community in Canterbury.

She is also bilingual being fluent in Farsi/Dari + English. She provides counselling, advocacy and advisory services in these languages.

She is a former refugee, originally from Afghanistan. She will be sharing about her own personal experience of pre-migration trauma, as well as post migration and re-settlement challenges in New Zealand.
